Hi Mike,
sorry to hear a cost issue might stop you attending. I have done mine through the local NHS Mental Health support team, as I am hoping to be a volunteer. therefore mine was free. However if done via this source and not a volunteer/NHS employee, it was still only £75, a reduction from the recommended £150. So maybe your local NHS is doing the same thing. It would be wierd if its just our NHS. Not a great deal to go on, but hopefully it might be a glimmer of hope for you. £75 is still a lot of money to most people.
keep us posted mate.
Chris

Plot thickens, due to the lady I was to meet being ill, its been put off until this friday afternoon.
also I hoped work would embrace this new qualification to compliment the physical one... alas I find their minds totally closed to the idea. HR say its enough we have a company doctor and people can talk to their GP. (1 Doctor for 500 people across the country) I should have known nothing would come of it.
But at least I am trying to do things outside of work... |

Well all looks good, Got a meet and greet next thursday so i can meet the OT that is there during the day, and then on into the evening which is when I will be doing my bit mostly. As well as arts and creative writing, there is a lot more on offer for them. including cooking playing games or just having a natter. :)

Tomorrow is my second night there, its only for about 4 hours, but I hope that is enough to make a connection with someone. All sorts of characters on the ward as you would imagine.
I was told last week, they have never had a volunteer on the ward, so its all as new to them as it is to us (two of us so far, maybe five more in the wings). The nurses told me how happy they are, it means we might get a chance to interact the way they dont get a chance to. |
