For 18 years (1998-2006) worked as an interpreter from Turkish and Russian at the Medical Foundation for The Care of Victims of Torture founded by Helen Bamber OBE, then I worked at the Helen Bamber Foundation Against Cruelty as an interpreter for a couple of years where I am Poet in Residence. I also visited Afghanistan twice for three months as an archaeologist excavating Old Kandahar before the Russians came in. I have many many poems on Afghanistan and hope that publication on your website of this short poem will lead to my sending you many more.
